The index was launched in November 1991 with a base of 2,000 points. By February 2007, it had skyrocketed to 12,285 points. 2007 (Record breaking growth) KSE-100 index touched the highest ever benchmark of 14,814 points on December 26, 2007, a day before the assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, whn the index nosedived. The Karachi Stock Exchange 100 Index is a major stock market index which tracks the performance of largest companies by market capitalization from each sector of Pakistani economy listed on The Karachi Stock Exchange. Since October 15th, 2012 it is a free-float index. The KSE100 has a base value of 1000 as of November, 1991..
